The WordPress Introductory course is ideal for beginners who would like to understand how Wordpress functions, such as the installation process, themes, plugins, and so on. While initially the platform may seem a little daunting, this course is a fast way of learning how to select the right option for your blog or website, and build a fully functioning system that is designed according to your preferences.
Module one introduces CMS in the context of other script languages, and shows the advantages and benefits of using Wordpress over other languages. This module will walk you through the correct way of installing the platform, and teach you how to use the tools available to work with Wordpress efficiently. It will show where different functions are found, and give an overview of the WordPress dashboard.
Module two focuses on the differences between posts and pages, and teaches you how to populate it using text and images. It focuses on the ways that posts can be made more appealing, and the different categories that are available. This includes the integration of text, quotes, headers, and lists, and the uploading of images and audio. The sidebar and its functions will be clearly defined, and you will be given examples on how to handle and manage your content in the best way possible.
Module three deals with learning how to manage users and their permissions, menus, and overall settings. It will address the differences between an informative and functional website, and how to manage users depending on the type of website. This includes creating users manually, editing settings, or deleting users. You will be shown the steps necessary to assign different roles to the users, and see how these roles vary in function. The module will emphasize on the difference between primary and secondary menus, and how to update them and their settings. This will ensure that your website will always be optimized with the best configuration settings possible.
Module four addresses themes and plugins, and you will learn how to apply and set themes in WordPress, and download and activate Plugins. A method of doing this will be shown using FTPs, and links will be provided as well as the necessary instructions to do so.
